Presentation Title: Brain-based Techniques in Psychodynamic Therapy

Short Description of the Presentation: Kelly Burk LMHC, LPCC, trained in EMDR and Kaitlyn Ferry LMHC, LPCC, trained in Brainspotting will discuss how these brain-based and somatic techniques are utilized in the context of their psychodynamic therapy practices.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to name at least 3 tools used in the set up for EMDR and/or Brainspotting
2. Participants will be able to identify at least two techniques to increase the brain-body connection in therapy
3. Participants will be able to identify at least two diagnoses for which brain-based treatments are indicated

Short Bio of Presenters:
Kelly Burk, LMHC, LPCC, MDiv is in private practice in Richmond, Indiana. A graduate of Christian Theological Seminary's clinical mental health counseling degree and residency program, Kelly offers psychodynamic psychotherapy for individuals, eye movement desensitization and processing (EMDR) therapy, and mental health trainings for groups. Kaitlyn Ferry, LMHC, LPCC, MDiv, holds an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a MDiv from Christian Theological Seminary (2021). Kaitlyn runs a solo private practice in Indianapolis, IN, and is licensed in both Indiana and Ohio. She incorporates brainspotting into her somatic and psychoanalytic approach to therapy. Kaitlyn is passionate about the role of the therapeutic community in client success and clinician development. As a member of the ISPT leadership team and president-elect, she works to foster collaboration and create innovative learning opportunities for both ISPT and the broader community.

Members attend free of charge. Non-member rate is $30.
